The Future Olympics

Last Saturday my best friend Amalia and I stayed longer at the gym after rhythmic gymnastics practice . We were preparing for an important competition , so our coach made us train very hard . After practice we were tired , but we also felt happy because our routines looked much better . When everybody left , Amalia and I sat on the floor and talked about our dreams . We both wanted to go to the Olympic Games one day . “ I wonder what the Olympics will look like in the future , “ Amalia said . At that moment the lights in the gym suddenly turned off . A strange silver circle appeared in the middle of the floor . Bright blue light came out of it . Amalia looked at me with big eyes . “ What is happening ?“ she whispered.Befor I could answer,the light became stronger. A warm wind moved around us. Suddenly everything started spinning very fast . A few seconds later we were not in our gym anymore. We stood inside a giant sports hall . It was enormous and full of colorful lights. Hunders of people sat in the audience. Lange screens floated in the air. Then we saw the words on one screen: Olympic Games 2148 . Amalia and I were shocked. We were in the future . Suddenly a girl in a shiny blue tracksuit walked toward us. She smiled kindly .“ Welcome to the Future Olympics, „she said.“ I’m Ria .“ Ria showed us around the building. Everything looked modern and amazing. Gymnasts trained with holograms and smart mirrors .Tina robots helped athletes during practice. There were even flying cameras above the floor . Then Ria brought us to the rhythmic gymnastics arena. It was beautiful. The carpet changed colors during performances. Music played from invisible speakers.Some gymnasts used glowing ribbons and sparkling balls . Amalia and I watched one gymnast do an incredible routine. She threw her ribbon very high into the air.“ She’s amazing, “ Amalia whispered. Ria smiled. “ In the future athletes train very hard,“ she said.“ But they also learn how to stay healthy and happy. “ Later we visited the winners hall . There were photos of famous Olympic champions from many countries .I imagined my own picture on the wall one day . But the future was not perfect. Some athletes looked stressed because people online watched and judged everything they did. Ria explained that many athletes felt pressure all the time .“ That is why friendship is important, “ she said. Soon Amalia and I started missing home . We wanted to see our families and our coach again . Ria brought us back to the silver circle. Before we left , she gave us two small gold pins with Olympic symbol. “ So you remember this day , “ she said . The bright light appeared again around us. A few seconds later Amalia and I were back in our gym . Everything looked normal. The lights were on again and the hall was empty. At first we thought it was just a dream . But then Amalia opened her hand. The gold pin was still there . Since that day we train even harder. We also remember that medals are important , but friendship and happiness arena important too. Sometimes after practice Amalia and I look at the pins and smile. Maybe one day we will really go to the Olympics.
